Vicki Bruno

What a treat it has been to have Vicki Bruno in our class! Her knowledge of sign language and children who are deaf or suffer from hearing losses has been invaluble. I was unaware of how many children who have hearing losses there are and how it is a very real reality of the classroom. I feel the knowledge she has shared with our class has better prepared me to handle making accomodations in the classroom for children with hearing losses. I also love the sign language she is sharing with our class. I love the idea of incorporating sign language into the classroom, even if it is a classroom of all hearing children. She has explained to us the benefits of using sign language for classroom management, to help kinesthetic and visual learners, and how much children enjoy learning sign language. I have enjoyed also learning about the history of sign language and drawing lessons from her experience as a teacher for deaf children.
