I Am From Poem

"I Am From..."

I am from Virginia ham, Maryland soft crabs, Ohio buckeyes, Minnesota Walleye fish, and New Mexico Chile peppers
I am from a recipe of biscuits and gravy and guacamole
I am from the beach, the moutains, National Monuments, the Great Lakes, and the high desert.

I am from moving boxes and new schools
I am from "home is where your heart is"
I am from blended cultures and race, not fitting the sterotype.

I am from books, music, magazines...with a hearty sprinkling of religion
I am from traveling, family vacations, and close friends
I am from laughter, tears, good days and bad.

I am from moving to the next stage of my life, growing up, finishing school, starting my career
I am from roads well traveled and less traveled
I am from the uniqueness of me.
